Governance Training Programme 2022-23

Welcome to the Governance Training & Development Programme for the 2022-23 academic year. All courses can be viewed below under the specific learning headings and you may view the sessions available in date order via the Key Events page. All bookings may be made online by selecting ‘further information’ and completing the booking form for your chosen course. The Bolton Governance Services Team aims to provide a comprehensive series of centre-based training courses to equip governors to carry out their roles effectively and enable them to strategically lead their schools and academies.

Courses are reviewed regularly to ensure that they reflect both national initiatives and changes in legislation and are scheduled at various times throughout the day and early evening to accommodate governors with work or family commitments. Whilst the majority of sessions are provided in person at the Bolton Science and Technology Centre, we offer a blended approach through virtual Teams events or pre-recorded video sessions.

The NGA Learning Link is an online training package provided for governors via the Bolton Training and Development Service Level Agreement. It provides governors and trustees with a flexible way to access information and training online and should be accessed alongside centre based training. The Governance Services Team can also design, co-ordinate and deliver bespoke commissioned training courses specific to the needs of your governing body or local cluster of schools. The Bolton Governance Conference will be held on Saturday 12 November 2022 with the theme of “Beyond Barriers: Achieve, Succeed and Belong in Bolton” further information can be found via the conference webpage.
